The PRR G38 was a 70-ton “jenny” ore hopper constructed in 1960 at the Samuel Rea Shops in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. Built for hauling iron ore from the Philadelphia and lake port facilities to inland steel mills, a total of 1,000 cars were produced, numbered 15000–15999. Many later received Penn Central and Conrail paint and remained in service into the 1990s.
