Kit manufactured in the USA
Built for the Trailer Train Company, the F68 BH was manufactured at Bethlehem Steel's Johnstown, Pennsylvania plant. The first production run of 150 cars was completed between December 1969 and March 1970, delivered in the original boxcar red TTX paint scheme before later being repainted into TTY yellow.
These cars were specifically designed to transport steel rebar from Bethlehem Steel's plant in Steelton, Pennsylvania. A defining feature of these cars is the distinctive "finger" rack system, which separates and secures individual bundles of rebar during transit. Many remain in service today, still handling rebar loads.
The Oley Valley Railcar model depicts the cars both as originally built and as later repainted in the TTX yellow scheme. These cars carry the reporting marks TTJX.
